Nes Ziona slipped by Parnu Sadam 86-82 to move on to the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifier Final on Friday when they will face Porto for the right to advance to the group stages of the competition.
After a close first quarter, Coach Lior Lubin’s squad broke away to 45-29 lead after holding the hosts to just 8 second quarter points. However, a game Estonian side charged back to tie the game up at 71 with just under four minuets remaining in regulation time but Ike Nwamu nailed a pair of triples late in the 4th quarter to take the victory.
Diante Garrett led the way with 19 points, Marin Maric added 17 points and 8 assists, Frank Bartley scored 16 points while Tim Soares chipped in with 10 points in the win. Kasey Hill scored 22 points for Parnu in the loss.
“I thought it was good game for us,” Garrett explained to The Sports Rabbi following the victory. We have only been together for 8-9 days as a full team but I thought we played well together during the game. We are looking forward to playing Porto this Friday because it gives us an opportunity to get better as a team and compete!!”
