Matchday Two August 29-August 31

Hapoel Kfar Saba 1:0 Maccabi Haifa

Kfar Saba defeated a struggling Haifa side that benched Eliran Atar and were without the services of injured Yossi Benayoun. Youngster Mavis Tchibota scored for Kfar Saba and Itay Shecter missed a late penalty for Haifa to send Roni Levy’s side to their second straight defeat as both losses come against the two two recently promoted clubs.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 0:3 Kiryat Shemona

The Reds home opener was anything but a happy event as the Northern side pounded Hapoel putting coach Cesar Mendiondo’s standing with the club in jeopardy already two matches into the new year. The question is will he make to the Jewish New Year in just two weeks. Ofir Mizrachi scored a brace with the first coming on a penalty while Achmed Abed scored Kirayt Shemona’s third goal of the night.

Bnei Sakhnin 2:3 Hapoel Raanana

Crazy match played in Akko as a 93rd minute goal for Raanana helped Haim Silvas pick up three points and the win. Or Eiloz scored the winner in a gorgeous free kick beating the Sakhnin keeper Ran Kadosh as the fans booed coach Eli Cohen off of the pitch. Weam Amasha scored the opening goal of the match for Sakhnin and Brazlian Jorginho scored the club’s second goal of the game. Evans Kangwa picked up a brace for the winners as the team’s head into the National Team break.

Hapoel Haifa 0:3 Maccabi Petach Tikva

Ran Ben Shimon’s club keeps rolling along, this time winning at Sammy Ofer Stadium ruining Haifa’s opener and sending Tal Banin’s side to their first loss of the season. Gidi Kanuk, David Twito and Guy Melamed filled the Haifa goal as they move to 2-0 so far this year.

Maccabi Netanya 0:0 Beitar Jerusalem

The good news for Beitar is that they’ve picked up two points, haven’t lost a match and have two shutouts. The bad news is that they haven’t scored a goal yet in 180 minutes of play. It still looks like there are a bunch of squad as that are in the midst of training camp, but yet that began over two months ago. Hopefully those teams will be able to put their acts together over the National Team break this coming week and sort out their onfield play along with making their final transfers prior to the window closing.

Bnei Yehuda 0:2 Hapoel Akko

Akko may have arrived 30 minute late to Bloomfield Stadium but it was Bnei Yehuda ‘keeper Dele Aiyenugba who seemed to be most disturbed by the delayed start as he let in two goals in five minutes. The first was a ball Aiyenugba had to handle off of Dor Kochav, but the keep just couldn’t find teh handle in the sphere as it slipped through his hands and into the goal. Just minutes later it as Elior Seidere’s turn to double the score as Akko and thine with the 3-points and the shutout win.
