Maccabi wallops Khimki 92-62 in final Euroleague home game of the season

Maccabi Tel Aviv walloped Khimki Moscow 92-62 in their final home Euroleague game of the season with just an away date at Zenit St. Petersburg left on Friday night to end their 2020/21 campaign. The Yellow & Blue scored early and often as Scottie Wilbekin notched 13 first quarter points to get Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s squad off and running while Ante Zizic and Oz Blayzer continued to find the basket for the hosts as they cruised to the win.

Scottie Wilbekin and Ante Zizic led the way with 13 points each, Dragan Bender added 12 points, Oz Blazyer recorded his Euroleague high with 11 points as Tyler Dorsey and John Dibartolomeo each chipped in with 10 points a piece. Jordan Mickey scored 21 points and Erick McCollum added 17 points in the loss.

Sergey Karasev opened the scoring for Khimki, but Scottie Wilbekin answered with a floater and 3-pointer to give Maccabi Tel Aviv a 10-7 lead midway through the first quarter. Ante Zizic with points inside and a pair of triples from Wilbekin from the outside cancelled put points from Jordan Mickey as the Yellow & Blue grabbed a 22-12 lead after ten minutes.

Elijah Bryant began the second quarter off with a pair of buckets while Dragan Bender and Tyler Dorsey scored from deep and Chris Jones added a layup to bump the Maccabi lead up to 37-18. Oz Blayzer put in an alleyoop from Dorsey, Dori Sahar drained a 3-pointer, Jones added a layup and Blayzer went in for a reverse dunk as Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s squad took a 53-25 advantage into halftime.

Zizic and John DiBartolomeo scored as the third quarter got underway as Maccabi continued to build the lead up to 67-27 midway through the frame. Erick McCollum and Mickey found points for the visitors but Bryant, Jones and Dragan Bender kept the Yellow & Blue in front 73-38 after thirty minutes of play.

Dorsey went from long distance and added a 3-point play, Bender went up for an alleyoop and put in a jumper and Blazyer continued to fill the hoop for Maccabi as they made sure to end the home slate on a high note for the fans.
