Maccabi Tel Aviv fell 91-79 to Partizan Belgrade as the yellow-and-blue came up with a split in the first Euroleague double week of the season. Zeljko Obradovic’s team took an early lead, but a red hot Levi Randolph spurred Oded Katash’s squad to a 46-42 advantage at halftime. However, Isaac Bonga, Frank Ntilikina and Sterling Brown paced the visitors over the course of the second half while Maccabi’s shooting went cold as they went down to defeat.

Randolph scored 19 points, Jasiel Rivero added 15 points while Jaylen Hoard chipped in with 14 points in the loss. Brown scored 20 points, Bonga put in 14 points and Ntilikina added 12 points in the win.

“It’s my responsibility [the loss],” Katash said after the game. “There were some minutes in the second half that were really ugly and wasn’t our game. We have excuses like a crazy schedule but we try not to use them. We were too tired and I tried to manage the load in a double week but it wasn’t enough. Maybe I should have used a longer roster. It looks ugly and feels bad and we missed a lot of wide open shots. We led by 17 rebounds on the board which is a crazy number, but I don’t blame the players. We need to learn, to get better, to keep up heads up and continue with the learning process and to build again something special but it will take some time.”

“We know Maccabi’s offense is very good,” Obradovic said after the game. “They have perimeter players, can play one on one and can hit the 3-points host which they did in the first half. They controlled the offensive rebound and that was a problem for us, but when we started to control this we changed the game. We need to trust ourself and that is the message of the game.”

Blatt went from deep, Isaac Bonga did as well, Tyrique Jones went in for a layup, Aleksej Pokusevski hit a jumper and Iffe Lundberg went from the inside and outside to give the visitors a 28-27 lead after ten minuets of play.
