Maccabi Tel Aviv fell to Olympiacos 95-94 in dramatic fashion as the Greeks mounted a late game comeback to take the victory from the jaws of defeat and drop the yellow-and-blue’s Euroleague record to 1-4 on the season.
Oded Katash’s squad stayed in front from the get go as they controlled the play thanks to Lonnie Walker, Jaylen Hoard, Roman Sorkin as well as Jeff Dowtin from deep while Nikola Milutinov, Sasha Vezenkov and Tyler Dorsey responded but were down by 13 points midway through the fourth quarter. However, Milutinov filled the basket and Vezenkov scored the eventual winning basket from inside the paint with 17 seconds left as Walker’s last gasp jumper at the final buzzer went off the iron to hand Gregorios Bartzokas’s squad the win.

“Maccabi also deserved to win the game,” Olympiacos Head Coach Georgios Bartzokas began. “But we scored 30 points in the last quarter and we had a 11-0 run to win the game. We had a few defensive stops at the end especially on Walker. Every game counts in the Euroleague.”
Jaylen Hoard, Roman Sorkin and Lonnie Walker all scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Nikola Milutinov found points as did Tyler Dorsey who scored from the inside and a pair from the outside while Sasha Vezenkov put the ball in the hoop but buckets by TJ Lead, Jeff Dowtin and Jimmy Clark gave the yellow-and-blue a 24-19 lead after ten minutes of play.
