Maccabi Tel Aviv downs Valencia 76-63 to even up Euroleague record at 2-2

Maccabi Tel Aviv thumped Valencia 76-63 with a strong second half as the Yellow & Blue won their second Euroleague game in a row to move to 2-2. Scottie Wilbekin scored 14 points, Othello Hunter added 13 points and 8 rebounds, Omri Casspi dropped 12 points and Nate Wolters chipped in with 10 points and 9 assists in the win. Jordan Loyd made his return to Israel with 17 points and Fernando San Emeterio added 15 points in the loss.

Nate Wolters and Omri Casspi started the game off on the right foot for Maccabi as Fernando San Emeterio and Maurice Ndour countered for Valencia in the early going. But a Scottie Wilbekin 3-pointer and more points from Wolters gave the Yellow & Blue a 18-11 lead after ten minutes.

Othello Hunter scored back to back baskets and John DiBartolomeo hit a jumper off the glass but Bojan Dubljevic pulled the visitors to within 3-points, 24-21 midway through the frame. Wilbekin hit his second triple of the game plus Casspi raised his team leading total to 8 points with the help of Wolters 6th assist of the night as Maccabi took 33-28 advantage into halftime.

Deni Avdija scored his first points of the game while yet another Wilbekin 3-pointer and buckets by Hunter and Casspi gave Maccabi a 10-point, 43-33 lead with 5:14 left in the third quarter. Yovel Zoosman hit back to back triples while DiBartolomeo added one of his own as the Yellow & Blue went into the final frame with a 56-44 advantage.

Avdija bounced home a 3-pointer to start the 4th quarter while Hunter added a pair of baskets before Wilbekin hit his 4th triple of the game to give Maccabi a 69-49 with less than 6 minutes to go in regulation. Jordan Loyd tried in vain to keep Valencia relevant but Zoosman capped the game off with a dunk to give Maccabi a 76-63 victory.
