Coming off of the 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Ajax and the horrific lynching and attacks in Amsterdam, Maccabi Tel Aviv crushed Bnei Sakhnin 4-0 with a pair of goals in the first half and another pair in the second to take the points and the win. Wessley Patati attempted to put the ball into the Sahknin box but instead landed up in the go to give Zarko Lazetic’s squad the lead in the 22nd minute while soon thereafter Dor Turgeman doubled the advantage to 2-0 as the yellow-and-blue headed into the break with a commanding advantage. Henry Addo’s individual effort just after halftime gave Maccabi a 3-0 lead as Joris Van Overeem put the cherry on top in the 70th minute to polish off the victory.

“Our performance was good from start to finish, with good energy and a good attitude,” Maccabi Head Coach Zarko Lazetic said. “We worked hard on our mental state especially during these days. We prepared well for the game and thanks to that we looked like this. I also told the players to bring pride to the fans who were attacked in Amsterdam.”

“We conceded very easy goals,” Slobodan Drapic began. “We wanted to come back in the first half and we knew that if we scored a quick goal we could but we made some mistakes and we need to fix some things. We’ll move on.”

Maccabi Petach Tikva slipped by Maccabi Netanya 2-1 as two goals in the first half by the visitors was enough to record the victory and collect the 3-points. Alon Aguzi sent a beautiful ball into the Netanya goal to get things off and running while Anas Mahamid’s brilliant strike into the far corner gave Dan Roman’s squad a 2-0 lead by the 27th minute. Igor Zlatanovic pounced on a loose ball in the box in the 80th minute to cut the advantage to 2-1 but it was not enough as Petach Tikva notched the win.

“We didn’t deserve this game,” Netanya coach Yossi Abuksis said. “We had a chance to get back into this game and there was some time to play but our effort wasn’t enough. You can’t lose so many balls if you want to win. There are games like that, it happens. We were not focused and It’s a shame, because it was possible to record a second victory in a row.”

“We had many good minutes today,” Roman said. “We pressed well and created a good amount of chances, our best minutes were our best of the season. We played the type of game we wanted to in the second half but we concede in the last 10 minutes which made it a bit tough but I’m glad we survived it.”
