Maccabi Tel Aviv crushed Hapoel Ramat Gan 5-0 as the yellow-and-blue scored early and often at the Rechovot Stadium to take the 3-points after a tough Toto Cup final loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv last week. Elad Madmon opened the scoring by heading home a James Tavernier ball, a Marco Silva own goal doubled the advantage and a Dor Peretz strike made it 3-0 by the break. From there second half substitute Ester Sokler bagged a brace to wrap up the dominant win.
Yellow-and-blue Head Coach Kenny Miller said at the end of the match, “It was a strong performance from us from start to finish. We scored an early goal and almost scored another late on with the penalty at the end. It was a very pleasing performance. If we want to succeed, we need to be ready for games like this.”
Ramat Gan bench boss Massay Dego talked about the loss, “All the responsibility lies with me. I am the coach and I am the one who prepared the team. The players gave 200%. We knew there was a gap in quality, but it should never have looked like this.”
