Maccabi Tel Aviv will tip-off against Hapoel Eilat in the Israel Basketball Winner League semifinals after sweeping their respective quarterfinal series 2-0. The first game of the best of 3 series will take place on Sunday night, 21:00 at Yad Eliyahu while game two will be down in Eilat on Tuesday. Game three if necessary will be on Thursday back in Tel Aviv.
Maccabi Tel Aviv just got by Hapoel Beer Sheva 93-92 to punch their ticket to the semifinals with a 2-0 sweep. The Yellow & Blue had a tough time all game long as the southern Reds controlled the boards and put the metal to the pedal in the final frame but Angelo Caloiaro’s late game performance ensured that Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s squad notched the win. Caloiaro led the way with 18 points, Ante Zizic added 16 points and Scottie Wilbekin scored 15 points in the win, Spencer Weisz and Amir Bell each scored 21 points to lead Rami Hadar’s team while rising star Amit Suss added a 13 point and 12 rebound double-double.
Hapoel Eilat advanced to the semifinals where they will face Maccabi Tel Aviv fast disposing of a game Hapoel Haifa 98-87 up by the Carmel. The Rea Sea squad led out of the gate but the Reds came back to take a 51-50 advantage at halftime. However, Joe Ragland wasn’t interested in playing a decisive game 3 as the guard helped Ariel Beit Halachmi’s team to the win over the final twenty minutes. Ragland almost notched a triple-double with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists, Casey Prather added 18 points and Roi Huber scored 15 points in the win. Keenan Evans led the way for Elad Hasin’s team with 19 points, Lennard Freemen added 18 points and Jason Siggers checked in with 17 points in the loss.
