Maccabi Ramat Gan dropped Hapoel Beer Sheva 85-78 as a strong fourth quarter by the hosts helped Shmulik Brenner’s team to the win. After a close thirty minutes that saw the sides head into teh final frame all knotted up at 62-62, Drew Crawford, Amin Stevens and Roi Huber were able to create enough separation to take the victory.
Stevens scored 23 points, Kendale McCullum added 19 points and 10 assists while Crawford scored 17 points in the win. Iverson Molinar scored 22 points and Ron Zipper put in 14 points in the loss.
“They are a good team and there are no easy games in the league,” Ramat Gan Head Coach Shmulik Brenner said. “They shot well and went 14/26 from deep. They are a solid team and we needed to be smarter at times as well. There are plenty of things that we are able to do very well, but there is so much work that we need to do to improve.”
“Ramat Gan is a quality team and the refs also are some questionable calls,” Beer Sheva coach Rami Hadar said. “We turned over the ball too much and didn’t control the boards. They had more shots than we did and if we don’t have more than our opposition we are going to have a problem.”
