Maccabi paints Tel Aviv Yellow & Blue with Derby win, Haifa keeps pace, Beer Sheva & Beitar win! Israel Football MD25 Highlights & Recaps!

Maccabi Tel Aviv blasted Hapoel Tel Aviv 3-0 to sweep the pair of regular season derbies. Omer Atzily opened the scoring with a brilliant free kick from just outside the box in the 36th minute to give the yellow-and-blue a 1-0 lead. Right before the halftime break the Reds Shay Eisen was issued a red card after a reckless tackle on Itay Shechter to reduce Nir Klinger’s squad to ten men for he entire second half. Eyal Golasa took full advantage of the extra man and sent a scorcher from 20 meters past a helpless Yoav Gerafi in the 63rd minute while Chico Ofoedu scored the final marker seven minutes later to wrap up a tidy 3-0 win and paint the city of Tel Aviv yellow-and-blue.

Maccabi Haifa downed Ashdod 2-1 at the port city to keep pace with first place Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Greens grabbed a 1-0 lead as Tjaron Chery sent a brilliant through ball to the league’s goal scoring leader Nikita Rukavytsya who made no mistake to beat Roei Mishpati. However, five minutes later the hosts drew even when Dean David found Sagiv Yehezkel with a through ball as the winger out it into the back of the goal, 1-1 after 28 minutes of action. But Yanic Wildschut took another terrific ball by Chery to give Marko Balbul’s squad the lead for good in the 53rd minute as Haifa took the 3 points and the win.

Hapoel Beer Sheva dropped Hapoel Kfar Saba 3-1 as the southern reds picked up the victory and 3-points. Kfar Saba grabbed an early 1-0 lead when a Dan Azaria through ball found Yahav Afriat who beat Ohad Levita to give the hosts the advantage. However, Marwan Kabha drew Yossi Abuksis’s squad even with a 37th minute strike while an Aviv Solomon hand ball in the box handed Ben Sahar a penalty kick five minutes later to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage at the break. Ramzi Safouri added an insurance marker in the 79th minute to give Beer Sheva the win.

Beitar Jerusalem dominated an overmatched Hapoel Hadera 4-1 as the yellow-and-black scored four unanswered goals after an early Hadera lead as Eliran Atar and Idan Vered each scored a brace. The hosts grabbed an early lead thanks to an Eliel Peretz penalty after Beitar central defender Diogo Verdasca pulled down striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe in the box good for the spot kick. But Atar rifled a 33rd minute volley behind Austin Ejide to draw Roni Levy’s team even at 1-1 ahead of the halftime break. Atar completed his brace and gave the visitors the lead in the 63rd minute when he sliced a gorgeous ball into the Hadera goal for a 2-1 advantage. Vered then finished Hadera off with goals two quick goals ten minutes later to give Beitar the victory.

Kiryat Shmona blasted Maccabi Netanya 3-0 in the northern capital. Almog Cohen was issued a straight red card for saving a ball on the goal line with his hand and was ejected from his fourth game of the season. But Eden Kartzev’s penalty kick was saved by Gad Amos to keep the game goalless early on. With a man to the good Kiryat Shmona took advantage of the situation and snatched a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Ahmed Abed went off of Netanya’s Karam Jabar. The hosts then received another gift when Dolev Azoulay’s clearance attempt went into his own goal for a 2-0 advantage in the 41st minute. New recruit Radu Ginsari gave Kobi Refuah’s squad a 3-0 lead in the 53rd minute to thoroughly dominate an undermanned Netanya and take the 3-points.

Hapoel Haifa defeated Sektzia Nes Tziona 2-0 at Sammy Ofer Stadium in what was must win game for the Carmel Reds in order to keep their Championship Playoff hopes alive. Kevin Tapoka scored off Gidi Kanuk’s 18th minute free kick while Saar Fadida gave the hosts a 2-0 lead in the 45th minute to wrap up the victory.

Bnei Yehuda slipped by Hapoel Raanana 1-0 on a 74th minute goal by Amit Zaneti as Elisha Levy’s side stayed alive in their quest for a place in the Championship Playoffs.
