Maccabi Haifa crushed Bnei Sakhnin 4-0 as Manuel Benson assisted on a pair of goals to help the greens cruise to the win. Lisav Eissat headed home a Benson corner to give the hosts a quick lead in the 5th minute while Cedric Don pounded home Haifa’s second marker a quarter hour later for a 2-0 advantage. Before the break Michael Ohana added the third goal while Guy Melamed nodded in another Benson ball to close out the victory.
Haifa Head Coach Barak Bakhar said after the match, “We deserve to smile after this game and following a tough game last week. We scored an early goal, which helped us and from there the game flowed as the attacks kept coming, plus the crowd enjoyed it. We’re constantly pushing for more even when we’re leading.”
Sakhnin interim coach Ayman Abu Yunis shared his thoughts, “We came here with a game plan to press high, but we conceded an early goal from a set piece and that disrupted all of our plans. Then the second goal came and it was already difficult for the players to get up and recover from that.”
