Maccabi Haifa captures Israel State Cup

Maccabi Haifa 1:0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

The Greens won their first State Cup in 18 years by defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 1:0 over Maccabi Tel Aviv at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. The Yellow & Blue were looking to pick it back to back titles, but it was not to be as Ludovic Obraniak’s free kick found Hen Ezra who scored and gave the City of Haifa something to celebrate after a a somewhat difficult season. Outgoing Maccabi Haifa captain Yossi Benayoun hoisted the Cup and completed his two year run with the club leaving on a high note.

Following the match, Tel Avuv coach Peter Bosz announced he was heeding to Ajax to take over the top spot with the Dutch club.
