Maccabi & Haifa are fit to be tied, Ashdod & Petah Tikva record playoff wins

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa drew 1-1 at Sammy Ofer Stadium in an entertaining clash that saw the hosts take the elad in the first half while the visitors came back in the second frame to secure a point a piece and keep the standings as is. The Yellow & Blue entered the contest in first place by a point over the Greens and it looked as if Barak Bachar’s squad would overtake the reigning champs after scoring a 17th minute header via central defender Bogdan Panic off an Omer Atzily free kick. However, at the break Maccabi head coach Patrick van Leuwen inserted attacker Eduardo Guerrero who slotted home a beautiful Dor Peretz pass after the midfielder had run almost the site length of the pitch as the sides split the points.

Ashdod dominated Hapoel Beer Sheva 2-1 as Ran Ben Shimon’s team took the 3 points as they further cemented their spot in 3rd place, good for a European qualification slot. Yakov Bruehn and Muhamed Knannan scored in the first half to give the port city squad a commanding lead in they desert capital as the host were only able to pull a marker back in the 95th minute by Mariano Bareiro.

Maccabi Petah Tikva blanked Kiryat Shemona 2-0 on a strike by Or Inbrun and an own goal by Idan Nahmias.
