Maccabi falls again in Euroleague action; Top-16 in jeopardy

Maccabi Tel Aviv lost another home game in the Euroleague as Darrusafaka Istanbul came to Israel and claimed a 84-73 victory, in Maccabi’s first match without dismissed coach Guy Goodes.

The hosts were holding the lead at half-time but Istanbul came out with a big third-quarter to take a comfortable win.

Maccabi players failed to put in any stand-out performances, the top scorer was Taylor Rochestie with 17 points. With management still in the process of finding a replacement for Goodes, interim coach Avi Even will have to guide the team for the meantime with an Israeli league game Saturday night at home against Nes Ziona.

Power forward Brain Randle will be it of action for five days due to a concussion he sustained when Marcus Slaughter inadventantly smacked him the face. The Yellows’ chances of qualifying for the Top-16 are now in serious jeopardy with a 1-4 record and if they don’t turn their form around soon they’ll be on the outside looking in.
