Maccabi eliminated from Champions League, Noah Dickerson Interview, Signings & More! Sports Rabbi Rundown July 30,2019

Maccabi Tel Aviv were eliminated from Champions League qualification by drawing 2:2 with Cluj after falling last week in Romania 1:0. The Yellow & Blue will now enter the third round of Europa League qualifying where they will meet Suduva from Lithuania. The first leg will be played in Israel while the second match will be held in Lithuania the following week.

Nick Blackman scored first to give Vladimir Ivic’s squad a 1:0 lead, however Juan Culio slotted home a penalty kick just a few minutes later to give Cluj a valuable away goal. Mario Rondon added to Maccabi’s misery just before the second half as the visitor’s took a 2:1 advantage into the break but three minutes into the second half Yonatan Cohen scored from the top of the box following some brilliant footwork to bring the hosts level at 2:2. But that would be as close as Maccabi would come as Cluj held on for the 3:2 aggregate win.
