Maccabi Tel Aviv narrowly got by Bnei Sakhnin 1-0 as Dor Peretz snatched the 3-points deep into second half injury time to hand Patrick van Leeuwen’s squad the win. After 94 minutes of goalless soccer, Dor Peretz leaped into the air amidst a mad scramble in the box and headed home a perfect Itay Shechter cross to stun Sakhnin. The win pulls the yellow-and-blue to within just 2 points from top of the table Maccabi Haifa. On Wednesday, Maccabi will host Hapoel Hadera at Bloomfield Stadium as they will look to continue to keep up with their positive momentum while Sakhnin will host Kfar Saba on Tuesday.
Ashdod surprised Maccabi Haifa 1-0 on Yakov Brihen’s 79th minute goal to take the 3 points from the table leaders. With the loss, Barak Bachar’s team are just two points ahead of Maccabi Tel Aviv as they now ready for the Haifa Derby on Wednesday. Hapoel Haifa and Maccabi Netanya played to a goalless draw to split the points as the Carmel Reds couldn’t take advantage of an extra man for the final twenty minutes of the game after Karam Jabar was sent off with his second yellow card. Hapoel Haifa will now prepare for the Derby on Wednesday while Netanya is slated to play Beitar Jerusalem on Thursday.
Hapoel Tel Aviv drew 1-1 with Hapoel Hadera as Raz Shlomo scored in the 97th minute to help the Reds split the points after Gustavo Marmentini had given Hadera the lead just as the second half got underway.
