Hapoel Holon big man Marcus Bingham landed in Israel on Monday afternoon as the Israel Basketball League players are arriving for preseason action in bunches. The Michigan State product spent his first year abroad with Hapoel Haifa and despite an early injury Bingham came back to score 14.5 points, grab 8.1 rebounds and block 1.8 shots in the final 18 games of the season.
Just after Bingham made his way into the arrivals hall at Ben Gurion Airport, the 24-year old spoke to The Sports Rabbi about moving to Holon and playing a second season under head coach Guy Goodes.

“It feels good, back for another year, year 2, let’s get rocking. It feels good [to be a wanted man] and coach Guy has a good plan for us and the team. He’s planning on getting a lot of wins and bring some championships back to Holon.”
As for Goodes, Bingham spoke about his relationship with the bench boss who coached the center in Haifa, “He’s more free with me, he let’s me play my game and it’s only going to expand this year.”
In addition to Goodes, Bingham played together with Dakarai Tucker by the Carmel Mountain, “When Dakarai got here last year he was my best friend from the jump. It’s just another year with him, he’s a good player and teammate too, awesome person off of the court, so it’s going to be like I’m at home.”

Bingham who was in Israel last season and experienced the October 7th attacks by Hamas and subsequent missile barrages by Hezbollah explained that he understood the situation and had no issues with his family and his return to the Holy Land, “They’ve seen how everything played out when we came back from the war so they’re kind of safe with it. They would be up here soon so they’ll get to see it themselves. I’m just ready to get to work.”
As for goals, what does Bingham want to win? “Everything. Every championship we can take back to Holon, we need it.”
