Hapoel Jerusalem fell to Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 74-70 in a tight contest that went all the way down to wire as the visitors led by one time Reds guard Bryson Lemar took the win. For Yonatan Alon’s team the loss drops their EuroCup record to 9-6 while Ljubljana sit at 9-5 to move Jerusalem out of second place in Division B.
Khadeen Carrington continued his quality play while Justin Smith and Jeremy Morgan paced Hapoel Jerusalem over the course of the first half while Brynton Lemar and Aleksej Nikolic countered for Ljubljana as they took a slim 33-32 lead after twenty minutes of play. Smith and Jared Harper paced the Reds over the course of the second half while Devin Robinson answered along with Nikolic and Lemar scoring key free throws down the stretch to take the win.
Smith and Harper scored 16 points a piece and Carrington scored 15 points in the loss. Lemar scored 17 points, Nikolic put in 16 points and Robinson scored 15 points in the win.
“I think the lack of focus that was needed for the small details of the game such as rebounding on both sides of the court and boxing out was missing. We need to do better,” Jerusalem Head Coach Yonatan Alon said.
