Kiryat Ata stunned Maccabi Ramat Gan 77-74 as Mucius, Amin Stevens and youngster Gal Beitner put in heroic performances for a

short squad due to a number of injuries. Isaiah Mucius for Kiryat Ata and Nuni Omot for Maccabi Ramat Gan traded baskets to get things going, Stevens and Tomer Porat also scored for the hosts while Itay Moskovits, Yahel Melamed and JP Tokoto all found points for the visitors as they grabbed a 40-37 lead at half-time.

Mucius and JJ Kaplan kept Sharon Avrahami’s team close, Moskovits and Tokotp kept scoring for Shmulik Brenner’s squad but a Beitner triple followed up by points from Stevens and Mucius handed Kiryat Ata the win.

Mucius scored 30 points, Stevens added 17 points and Porat chipped in with 8 points in the win. Moskovits scored 18 points, Tokoto scored 16 points and Omot added 13 points in the loss.

“When you have a team, a real team it doesn’t matter who plays,” Abraham said. “Raz Adam was injured and Beitner and Kaplan along with Mucius and Stevens gave some great games and sometimes these things in basketball are just unexplainable.”

“We didn’t play well on both ends against a very intelligent team,” Brenner began. “I can’t say that we weren’t here we just weren’t good enough. We need to understand how to handle these types of situations better as a team.”

The game MVP Isaiah Mscius spoke about the victory, “We just continued to have that energy. We came out and wanted to win this gam to give us momentum heading into the playoffs. I was just staying aggressive and my teammates trusted me, just like coach told me to be myself and play within the team.”
