Hapoel Jerusalem defeated Nes Ziona 78-62 thanks to a 19-1 run in the fourth quarter to seal of the club’s 14th win in a row across all competitions. After a very close three quarters, Brandon Brown got hot in the final frame as he led the way for the Reds to take the 14-point victory.

Brown scored 17 points, Levi Randolph who returned from injury scored 16 points while Itay Segev chalked up a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Shaw Buchanan paced Nes Ziona with 20 points in the loss.

“Our coach really preaches defense and that is how we really try to get going,” the game MVP Brandon Brown. “Being physical, contest shots and rely on defense to create offense and at the end I was able to make big shots which is thanks to my teammates. These back too back games are tough but you have to watch film, weight room and not skip any days.”

Hapoel Eilat continued to roll as they downed Hapoel Galil Elyon 79-72 to continue to move up the standings. The Red Sea squad set the tone early by holding the Galilee side to just 12 points in the first quarter but the hosts came storming back to cut the Eilat lead to just 55-53 after three quarters of play. However, Austin Tilghman’s points in the final frame made all of the difference for Maurizio Buscaglia’s side as they notched their fourth win in a row.

Antonius Cleveland led the way with 25 points, Eric Griffin added 17 points and Austin Tilghman chipped in with 14 points in the win. Deishuan Booker paced the hosts with 21 points while Roi Huber and Bryce Washington each scored 13 points in the loss.

“Our goal is to control the paint,” Buscaglia said. “We have to be strong inside and go for there for the rebounds. Every win gives us more confidence that we can take to the next one. I liked our body language and that is what wins games.”

Kiryat Ata downed Hapoel Gilboa Galil 87-75 as Sharon Avrahami’s team moved further away from the bottom of the standings where the Galilee squad is floundering with just 4 wins. Kiryat Ata controlled the pace of play throughout the game as Diante Garrett with 24 points, Chavaugnn Lewis with 19 points and Amin Stevens with 17 points while Robert Franks paced the visitors with 25 points.

“Our game plan worked,” Avrahami said. “We held Gilboa up under 80 points and when that happens we will win. We lost some games this season for no reason and we should be higher up in the standings. We still haven’t guaranteed that we will not be relegated as there are more games to play but there is no question that we can soon.”
