Plus you can watch what Amare Stoudemire had to say ahead of Jerusalem vs Tenerife on Wednesday night at 20:30 Israel time and you can read Coach Oded Katash and captain Lior Eliyahu’s thoughts on the quarterfinals.
Captain Lior Eliyahu spoke about the Tenerife challenge ahead:
“We’re going to be playing an 80 minute game and we all now exactly what that means and we are aware that the second game in Tenerife is one of the hardest in Europe. We will have to get the best possible result at home and then see how it plays out going forward.”
About playing a two game total point series:
“Each play will be critical and the first game is the first half, while the second half will be on the road. We have experienced this before just a couple of weeks ago against Neptunas and also in the EuroCup as well. We have to make sure we are mentally prepared for the challenge of the two games.”
Head Coach Oded Katash also looked ahead to Tenerife:
“This will be a series between two of the competition’s most dominant teams and two squads that know how to get much more out of themselves than what they have shown recently. There’s no favorite and we need the atmosphere to be just like it was during the State Cup week.”
Tenerife’s style of play:
“Tenerife plays team basketball and they are not only a very intelligent team but one that plays differently than we do. This is the only title that Tenerife is really competing for and I believe that they will come into the game very aggressively. I’m sure they prepared for this game for a while now and that could be why they lost their last five league games.”
Playing possession by possession:
“We have to play possession by possession in this game and every rebound or turnover can be crucial to the team that will eventually advance. It’s all open.”
Keeping to the game plan:
“I would prefer if we were up by 20 points and not down early in the first game but we have a game plan. When a game plan is out together you also make sure that you put in various wrinkles if this ir that happens. We have won some big games in various ways this season and we have to make sure that we come into the game with the correct mentality as it is different in a series of two games of 80 minutes than that of just one.”
