Hapoel Jerusalem dunked Anwil Wloclawek 112-94 after the Reds bust open the game in the second half running the Polish squad out of the building. Anwil led by as many as a dozen points midway through the second quarter but Oded Katash’s crew stormed back to pull within one point at halftime and then outscored the visitors 60-41 over the final twenty minutes thanks to unstoppable play by Suleiman Briamoh (33 points), James Feldeine (23 points) and J’Covan Brown (21 points). Chris Dowe and Chase Simon each scored 17 points while Tony Wroten added 15 points in the loss.
Anwil came out aggressive and grabbed a 16-9 lead midway through the first quarter as former Israeli league players Chase Simon and Chris Dowe scored at will. Suleiman Braimoh and James Feldeine began hitting their shots but Ricky Ledo and Szymon Szewczyk did as well to give the visitors a 33-26 lead after ten minutes of play.
Tony Wroten opened the frame with an alleyoop dunk as Anwil built up a 12 point, 45-33 advantage with 6:45 left in the second quarter. Braimoh kept putting the ball in the basket while J’Covan Brown got hot swishing and dishing as Jerusalem chipped away at the lead to just one point 53-52 at halftime.
The third quarter opened up with Wroten and Simon trading baskets with Braimoh and Feldeine but Anwil began to build up their lead once again and led 69-62 midway through the frame. Rolands Freimanis drilled a triple but Brown answered right back from downtown as did Isaiah Cousins and Briamoh to give Jerusalem a 81-76 advantage after thirty minutes.
Brown’s thirteen points for the Reds over the first half of the fourth quarter broke the game open as Jerusalem took a 96-81 lead. Tashawn Thomas continued to pad the advantage as the hosts finished off a 112-94 win.
