Hapoel Jerusalem defeated Hapoel Holon 93-81 in a tightly contested battle. The Reds pulled out to a big lead but the hosts were able to cut down the advantage and tie the game up in the 3rd quarter, 64-64. But Oded Katssh’s squad pulled it together thanks to newcomer Deividas Sirvydis’s nine 4th quarter points to lead Jerusalem to the win. Nimrod Levi had 15 points and 9 rebounds, Suleiman Braimoh added 15 points, Emanuel Terry scoped 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds while Bar Timor chipped in with 11 points. Jermaine Love led all scorers with 31 points, Shavon Coleman added 17 points and Jimmy Hall put up a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion slipped by Maccabi Tel Aviv 92-90 as the Wine City squad picked up their first win of the season against one of the top two teams in the league. Guy Goodes’s team controlled the tempo from the get go thanks to strong play from D’Angelo Harrison, Oz Blayzer and Noam Dovrat but Angelo Caloiaro pulled Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s crew even at 88-88 late in the game. But clutch free throws by Harisson and a Scottie Wilbekin miss as time expired gave Rishon the victory.
Hapoel Beer Sheva got by Maccabi Ashdod 85-80 in the southern capital as Evan Bruinsma once again starred for Rami Hadar’s team as he put up 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals and had a 42 efficiency rating. Spencer Weisz added 13 points and 7 assists while Caleb Agada and Amir Bell each scored 12 points in the win. Jairus Holder was Ashdod’s catalyst with 20 points, Paul Stoll added 16 points and Zuf Ben Moshe scored 14 points in the defeat.
Nahariya put up another win as they defeated Maccabi Haifa 82-66 in Romema. Ivan Almeida once again led the northern squad with 19 points and 5 rebounds, Itay Segev added 12 points and 7 boards, Dominic Waters clocked in with 11 points and 8 assists, Diamon Simpson chipped in with 11 points whole Tony Gaffney flirted with a triple-double with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the win. Speedy Smith led the Greens with 18 points and Roman Sorkin added 12 points in the loss.
Hapoel Tel Aviv blew out Nes Ziona 105-75 at Lev HaMoshava as Jordan Davis starred with 22 points and 8 rebounds. 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Yam Madar scored an impressive 14 points and 5 assists, Daniel Koperberg added 13 points and 7 rebounds while captain Tomer Ginat chipped in with 12 points and 7 boards. Cameron Oliver led Nes Ziona with 19 points and Tal Dunne scored 12 points in the defeat.
Hapoel Gilboa Galil beat Hapoel Eilat 95-83 thanks so a strong game by Akil Mitchell who dropped 22 points and 13 rebounds to help bring the win back up to the Galilee from the Red Sea City. Michael Young added 22 points and Iftach Ziv chipped in with 10 points in the win while Jordan Caroline led the way for Eilat with 28 points as Milton Doyle contributed 21 points in the loss.
