Maccabi Haifa 1:1 Hapoel Beer Sheva

Beer Sheva made a trip up to Haifa to take on Maccabi and came away with a point from the match and a 1-point lead in the standings after Matchday 17. Glynor Plet opened the scoring for the hosts while Maor Bazaglo scored later in the first half to draw his side even. Each side had a number of chances in the second half but couldn’t find a winner, Plet was shown a yellow card for a reckless tackle on Beer Sheva keeper Dudu Goresh that turned into a red card after referee Menashe Mashiach confered with the other officials.

Hapoel Raanana 0:2 Maccabi Tel Aviv

The Yellow-and-Blue exacts revenge defeating Raanana at the Netanya Stadium on goals by nine other than captain Eran Zahavi and Avi Rikan. The captain began 2016 just the way he ended off 2015 with a goal for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Beitar Jerusalem 1:0 Bnei Yehuda

Beitar win their first game of 2016 on a first half penalty by captain Omer Atzili to pick up the 3-points over Yossi Mizrachi’s Bnei Yehuda side. In a game that was played primarily in the midfield in freezing cold temperatures, the home side did just enough to win the game and come out on top of Bnei Yehuda.

Hapoel Akko 2:2 Bnei Sakhnin

In an entertaining match up north, Akko came away with a late goal to pick up a point in a draw with Sakhnin. Moshe Mishaeloff opened the scoring as Zion Tzemach assisted on the goal while Sakhnin scored two second half goals. Giorginho scored the first as he received a fantastic pass from Feras Mahgarbeh that he put behind Akko keeper Amos while Weam Amasha headed in an Ali Osman ball for the short lived lead. However it would be Tzemach who would score an 87th minute penalty to draw the sides even late in the game.

Kiryat Shemona 3:0 Maccabi Netanya

Ofir Mizrachi scored a brace and picked up an assist in a dominant victory over last place side Netanya. Bruno Konie soccer the first goal of the match from a Mizrachi assist in the box while the striker received service from Eden Shamir and Or Ostaynd for his pair of goals. Reuven Atar’s Netanya side will need to make a number of changes during the transfer window in order for them to fight to acoid relegation.

Maccabi Petach Tikva 2:0 Hapoel Kfar Saba

The hosts scored a 2:0 win on goals by Guy Melamed in the 4th minute and Muhamed Calibat in the 69th minute to secure the 3-points for Ran Ben Shimon’s side.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 0:0 Hapoel Haifa

In a poorly played match at Bloomfield Stadium the two sides split the points as the Tel Aviv faithful call for the firing of coach Guy Levy.
