Maccabi Haifa 0:2 Beitar Jerusalem
Beitar went into Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa and snagged 3-points on two late goals by substitute Dovev Gabbay and wunderkid Omer Atzili to keep the Jerusalem side in third place going into the break. Roni Levy’s Haifa couldn’t muster a goal after a number of solid chances by Dutch striker Glynor Plet as his efforts including a number of strikes and a brilliant header were saved by an in form Boris Kleiman raising the ire of the Greens and their supporters.
Midfield play dominated the match but it was the Yellow-and-Black coach Slobodan Drapic’s intelligent second half substitutions that won the game for the visitors. Leroy Tzeiri sent a smart deep ball to Gabbay who put it behind Serbian National Team keeper Vladimir Stoyakovich in the 85th minute that began the mass exodus of fans from the stands. Atzili added an insurance goal in the 90th minute that sent the Beitar travelling supporters of 3500 strong into ecstasy.
Hapoel Beer Sheva 1:0 Hapoel Haifa
After a listless first half the two sides got going in the second half leading to a fantastic goal by Shlomi Arebitman. With his back to the goal, Arbeitman bicycle kicked the ball into the Haifa net to snag the three points and go into the break in first place due to a better goal differential over Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Hapoel Raanana 0:1 Hapoel Tel Aviv
Hapoel Tel Aviv gave interim coach Walid Badir a dramatic goodbye gift defeating Raanana away on a 94th minute goal by Adi Gutlieb. As incoming coach Guy Levy was sitting with owner Amir Cabiri, Badir would coach his final match for now to an unbelievable end, as Moshe Ohayon’s 94th minute free kick would be headed into the Raanana goal by Adi Gutlieb and allowed the Reds to pick up the three points. Raanana keeper Arik Yanko left the match after the first half injured and it was his replacement Omri Glazer’s poor judgement that let Gutlieb get his head on the ball and score the winner.
Bnei Sakhnin 2:2 Bnei Yehuda
Another dramatic ending to a Winner League match tonight as Ali Osman’s 25 meter strike glanced off of Aviv Hadad’s head and into Itamar Israeli’s goal to draw the home side Sakhnin even in the 92nd minute. Jude Nworuh’s 6th minute goal off of a Almog Bozaglo pass would have the visitors a short lived 1:0 lead as Weam Amasha would even the game up at 1:1 just four minutes later. Nworuh gave Bnei Yehuda a 2:1 lead in the 16th minute but it would be Osman who’s goal would split the points late in the second half.
Hapoel Akko 1:0 Maccabi Petach Tikva
Akko came away with the shock win on a terrific play by Samuel Gilmore and Ahmed Kasum as Zion Tzemach fo shoes off the play to collect the three points over struggling Petach Tikva. The goal was Akko’s first in 488 minutes of play.
Hapoel Kfar Saba 0:0 Kiryat Shemona
Kiryat Shemona has now drawn 6 matches this season after a scoreless tie in Kfar Saba. The most exciting part of the match may have been former Kfar Saba owner Eli Tabib being seranaded by his former fans.
