Maccabi Tel Aviv 3:2 Beitar Jerusalem
What more can you say about Eran Zahavi. He’s the ultimate winner plain and simple. His 90th minute goal not only won the game for Maccabi that propelled them into first place over Hapoel Beer Sheva but it was also the single season record breaking goal for Number 7. Standing at 31 goals, Zahavi breaks the record held by Nisim Elmaliah and still has six more matches to add to his total. Dor Micha opened the scoring for the Yellow-and-Blue while Nikita Rukavytsya drew Beitar even on a penalty goal soon thereafter. Zahavi scored his 30th of year tying Elmaliah’s total but Rukavytsya put home the tying goal yet again. However, when heroics are needed, Zahavi always comes up big and he did so yet again as the Maccabi fans celebrated into the night.
Hapoel Beer Sheva 1:1 Maccabi Haifa
The pressure is mounting for Beer Sheva as the Reds hosted the Greens of the Carmel at Turner Stadium and only came away with a draw. Ben Sahar tied up the match at 1:1 in the 84th minute from a penalty spot cancelling out Eliran Atar’s 20 meter strike in the 79th minute after coming on as a substitute. Maccabi Tel Aviv will have a chance to leapfrog Beer Sheva on Monday night when they host Beitar Jerusalem.
Hapoel Raanana 2:3 Bnei Sakhnin
Giorginho with a brace and Shlomi Azulay with a goal helped visiting Sakhnin stay in 4th place as they defeated Haim Silvas’s side at the Netanya Stadium. Evans Kangwa and a 94th minute strike by Dejan Radonjic was not enough for the home side on this night.
