Israel U18’s drop final group game to Serbia

The Under-18 Israel National Team fell to Serbia 101-73 to end group play with a record of 1-2 at the European Championships. The blue-and-white will find out who they will play in the knockout round on Wednesday at the conclusion of the Italy and Latvia game At the end of tonight’s game between Italy and Latvia.

Israel began the game well with a triple by Aviv Henkin and points by Rani Balaga but Serbia quickly responded and took a 26-16 lead after ten minutes of play. Belaga and Omer Mayer helped cut the lead down to 4-points midway through the second quarter but Serbia went into halftime holding a 48-40 advantage.

Ben Saaraf and Yaron Goldman’s points to begin the third quarter cut the score down to 58-53 but from that moment on it was all Servia as they cruised to the 28-point victory.

Balaga scored 20 points, Saraf added 18 points and Mayer chipped in with 9 points in the loss.
