Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Maccabi Netanya 4-1 thanks to three unanswered second half goals all orchestrated by substitute Omer Atzili. Maor Kandil opened the scoring in the 28th minute when the defender finished off a terrific team play to give the yellow-and-blue a 1-0 lead. However, Guy Melamed’s header before halftime evened up the score by the halftime break. After 25 minutes of back and forth football in the second half, Atzili entered the fray with 20 minutes remaining and turned the entire game upside down. In the 73rd minute, he drew a penalty that he promptly scored and twelve minutes later number 7 assisted on Itay Shechter’s goal. As the match hit injury time Shechter drew a penalty of his own that Atzili slotted home as Maccabi put the finishing touches on the win and continued their undefeated league season.

Beitar Jerusalem needed a dramatic injury time goal to defeat Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-1 to perhaps save their season and avoid relegation. Caio opened the scoring for the Reds in the 42nd minute as his goal stood up until a 70th minute penalty. Orel Degani pulled down Freddy Plumain in the box and then converted the spot kick to draw even at 1-1. Beitar continued to press for a winner and found it deep into stoppage time as David Klejtens headed home a magnificent corner kick by Maor Buzaglo to steal the points and maybe more importantly their campaign.

Hapoel Beer Sheva defeated Bnei Yehuda 2-1 in the southern capital. Referee Shalom Ben Avraham was at the center of attention early on after calling a 12th minute penalty using the VAR (Virtual Assistant Referee) technology that had never occurred. Jakub Sylvestr stepped up and slammed home the spot kick for the visitors to give them a 1-0 lead. Beer Sheva drew even in the 33rd minute as Hanan Maman sent Ben Sahar a magnificent ball that the latter put into the far corner. Three minutes later Ben Avraham was again put on the spot when he called yet another questionable penalty this time in favor of the host’s. However, Emilias Zubas made a fine stop to stymie Sahar. But the league’s leading goal scorer made up for his miscue in the 52nd minute when his blast caromed off a defender and went behind Zubas as Beer Sheva took the win.

Hapoel Hadera stunned Maccabi Haifa 3-1 at Sammy Ofer Stadium. After being knocked out of the Israel State Cup competition by Maccabi Netanya last week, Hadera came into the Carmel with a chip on their shoulders as they took advantage of their opportunities to grab the victory. For the Greens this was their third loss in a row as they remain winless in Championship Playoff action. Following a quiet goalless first half, Eden Kartzev sent Amit Cohen a terrific through ball as the wingback beat both defender Rami Gershon and keeper Guy Haimov to take a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Nikita Rukavytsya found the equalizer 13 minutes later but Hadera’s Vitali Ganon finished off a Lucio counterattack to take a 2-1 advantage in the 88th minute. Kartzev added an injury time strike just minutes later to wrap up the win and continue their storybook season.

Kiryat Shemona dominated Hapoel Haifa 3-0 up north. The hosts’s scored a trio of second half goals thanks to Eden Shamir as they captured the 3-points and the win. Shamir beat Ernestas Setkus in the 50th minute with a fine header while Hadji Barry added his name to the scoresheet 17 minutes later thanks to a Shamir assist. In the 75th minute Shamir completed a brace when he headed home his second of game.

Ashdod made a huge step to stave off relegation with a 2-1 win over Hapoel Raanana at Ramat Gan Stadium. Substitute Dean David scored a second half brace to cancel out a potential goal of the season candidate by Avichai Yadin as Ashdod climbed to within 4-points of Hapoel Raanana.

Bnei Sakhnin and Maccabi Petah Tikva played to a 1-1 draw at Doha Stadium as the host’s are running out of time to avoid relegation. Sakhnin took a 61st minute lead via Muhamed Calibat off a corner kick but the visitor’s drew even thanks to a Tomas Sivok header as the side’s split the points.
