Israel and Ireland played to a 1-1 draw as Dor Peretz scored in the second half to cancel out Troy Parrott’s first half penalty to earn a point for the blue-and-white in Nations League play. Israel looked to avenge the 3-0 beating they took at the hands of Ireland last week and played a tough first half, however, Dor Peretz tripped up defender Jimmy Dunne in the box giving Troy Parrott a penalty that the forward promptly slotted behind keeper Assaf Tzur for a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.

But Dor Peretz atoned for his error early on in the second half when he put home Oscar Gloukh errant ball to draw even. The blue-and-white looked to take the lead and pushed towards the Irish goal time and time again over the second half but couldn’t find the elusive winner as the two sides split the points.

Israel Head Coach Ran Ben Shimon reflected on the draw, “I don’t know if we have anything left in the tank to give in this window after four games. We had so many sick players and others with injuries but we did the best that we could an everyone gave a huge effort. We were very motivated coming into this game and we did the maximum. I believed in my players and I hope that they believe in me too.”

The goal scorer Dor Peretz said, “I’m very happy that I was able to score but it was just the equalizer and not the winning goal, but nonetheless we were able to get a point out of this game. Going forward we need to take the aggressiveness that we showed in this game into the next as well. We took two of 12 points and while it’s not enough we are in a very difficult group.”
