Hapoel Tel Aviv 77-90 Maccabi Tel Aviv
The city of Tel Aviv was painted Yellow-and-Blue last night as Maccabi won the heated city Derby as Taylor Rochestie earned his place in the league’s top five players for this week’s rounf of games. With 5 players in double digits, Rochestie led the high octane Maccabi offense with 28 points and 10 assists. The guard went 6/7 from downtown as the team finished with 59% shooting from 3-point land going 16/27 while forward Guy Pnini shot 5/7 from beyond the arc good for 15 points in a game that was never in doubt. Recently signed Tre Simmons scored 19 points in a losing effort for Hapoel while guard Raviv Limonad added 13 points. Maccabi will face Darussafaka for their Euroleague lives on Thursday night as Maccabi needs an 11 point victory over the Turkish side to advance to the round of 16 of the illustrious tournament.
Hosts Kiryat Gat dominated nearly every offensive category against a struggling Holon and new coach Dan Shamr. Maccabi Haifa 78-74 Maccabi Ashdod
Chanan Colman helped Haifa to the win and was named to the league’s top 5 players of the week for his 17 point, 5 rebound and 6 assist effort against Ashdod. Four other players ended the game in double digits as both Oz Blayzer and Rene Rougeau finished the night off with 13 points each. Charles Thomas dropped 27 points and grabbed 9 boards as Diante Garrett added 21 points for Tzvika Sherf’s Ashdod.
Ironi Nahariya 71-81 Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion
Rishon Le’Zion and coach Sharon Drucker continued their strong performance so far this season with a quality win up north over Nahariya. Chris Wright scored 21 points while Darryl Monroe chipped in with 16 points. Shawn Dawson added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory. The home side featured 5 players in double figures with Gilbert Brown providing a double-double with 14 point and 10 rebounds as Richard Howell’s 20 points and 9 rebounds were not enough for hosts to take the win.
Bnei Herzeliya 75-81 Hapoel Jerusalem
Jerusalem went into Herziliya and came away with the 6 point victory after heading into the with a deficit in the same amount 39-33. Five Hapoel players ended the game in double figures with D’or Fischer picking up a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Lior Eliyahu dropped 18 points while collecting 6 rebounds and handing out 6 assists for the Reds who will be playing Volgograd in EuroCup action on Gameday Ten with a berth in the next round on the line.
