Holon drubs Brindisi 88-61 in Champions League opener

Hapoel Holon pounded Happy Casa Brindisi 88-61 to get their Basketball Champions League campaign started off own the right foot. Maurizio Buscaglia’s sward jumped out to a 29-9 lead after the first quarter as Steven Gray, Chris Johnson and Joe Ragland scored early and often to cruise to the 27-point victory.

Gray led the way with 20 points, Ragland added 18 points and 7 assists while Johnson chipped in with 18 points and 6 rebounds in the win.

Holon head coach Maurizio Buscaglia reflected on the game that was, “It was very important that we put the game in the right way with the 3-pointers and giving them less spacing. We had a good impact from the bench and this was a very good win.”

Steven Gray also looked back on the victory, “It was just a really good effort and we have kept things pretty simple. Today we were able to play free, shoot the ball and play hard on defense with a lot of energy which we were able to show for most of the 40 minutes.”
