Holon and Hapoel Tel Aviv win Balkan League clashes; Playoff game between two on Friday

Hapoel Holon needed overtime to down pesky Hapoel Eilat 105-102 as Frederic Bourdillon starred in the win. Stefanos Dedas’s squad finished off Group C play at 4-0 and will play a one game knockout on Friday at 14:00 against Hapoel Tel Aviv for the right to play in the next group stage of the competition. The French guard with nine 3-pointers was the star of the show for Holon as Casey Prather and Josh Nebo’s side helped take Ariel Beit Halachmi’s into the extra session but it wasn’t enough as the hosts took the 3-point win.

Bourdillon led the way with 34 points, Tyrus McGee added 17 points while Oded Brandwein scored 15 points and Chris Johnson chipped in with 13 points in the win. Prather led Eilat with 28 points, Nebo added 21 points as Joe Ragland scarped 15 points in the loss.

Hapoel Tel Aviv travelled up north and dropped Hapoel Haifa 79-73 as Tyrique Jones made a splash in his debut for the Reds. Ioannis Kastritis’s squad will tip-off against Stefanos Dedas’s crew on Friday for a ticket to the next stage.

Jones with 22 points and 8 rebounds was dominant on both sides of the court for Hapoel Tel Aviv in his first game with the club while JP Tokoto with 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals put in a prime performance to help the Reds to their first win of 2021. Amit Simhon 4th 22 points and Taylor Rochestie with 11 points led Elad Hasin’s team in the loss.
