Bnei Herzliya got by Hapoel Haifa 93-89 in overtime to take a commanding 2-0 quarterfinal series lead. Chris Babb drilled home a pair of triples in the extra session to send Oren Aharoni’s to the victory after Sandy Cohen had hit two key free throws at the end of regulation time. Gregory Vargas had hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for Elad Hasin’s team but it wasn’t enough to even up the series as Herzliya recorded the road win.

Babb led the way with 25 points, Maurice Kemp added 20 points and 8 rebounds while Andy Van Vliet scored 14 points in the win. Vargas paced the hosts with 22 points and 8 assists, James Ennis scored 18 points and Kadeem Allen chipped in with 13 points in the loss.

“It’s a great feeling when big shots fall in crunch time,” Chris Babb told The Sports Rabbi following his club’s win. “Even more so when I had an off shooting night for the most part. It was huge for us to win on the road, but the series is far from over and we have a huge home game to prepare for.”
