Hapoel Tel Aviv walloped Maccabi Haifa 4-0 as Loizos Loizou and Omri Altman scored braces to record the 3-points and the win. After 40 minutes of back and forth football, Loizou broke the ice in the 41st minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Altman doubled the advantage as he headed home a brilliant Loizou ball in the 67th minute while he scored his second just minutes later from inside of the box for a 3-0 lead. Loizou then scored with his left foot as he waltzed into the area to close out the 4-0 win.
Reds Head Coach Eliniv Barda said after the match, “It wasn’t easy, I have to say. Even though it may look like a match where we scored four goals, it wasn’t easy. Haifa started with three center-backs and then changed and we had to adjust because the start surprised us. Today the balls went in, I’m very happy with the win and we want to keep moving forward.”
Maccabi Haifa Head Coach Barak Bachar said after the match, “The feelings are tough. We tried to change things a bit today with a different system, it didn’t go badly until we conceded a goal and then there was a collapse. That’s something that’s been happening to us in recent games and I’m the first one who needs to figure out how to stop it. There are still seven games left and every match is important. We can’t embarrass ourselves.”
Kiryat Shemona blanked Maccabi Netanya 1-0 as Adrian Ugarriza scored via a rebound on his own missed penalty in the second half to snatch the 3-points and the victory.
Shay Barda, the Kiryat Shemona Head Coach said, “We need to salute these players for everything they’re going through. There was a lot of difficulty and the football wasn’t good either. It was a scrappy game. We need to finish the season and sit down to see what the goals are for next season. It’s a huge privilege to coach here. Knowing that today we’ve 95% secured survival is an exceptional achievement.”
Netanya bench boss Roni Levy said after the match, “We had missed chances and should have gotten back into the game. Disappointing. You can take a lot of good things from this match and I’m sure Netanya will be stronger next season and will be in the championship playoffs.”
Hapoel Jerusalem slipped by Maccabi Bnei Reineh 1-0 on Yonatan Laish’s second half goal as the Reds moved one point up from the relegation zone with the 3-points and the win.
Jerusalem bench boss Lior Zada spoke about the victory, “I don’t want to make dramatic statements. I’ve already been asked about standings in the past and said everything can still turn around. We achieved a very important win in a game where our backs were against the wall, after a long period in which we didn’t score or win and we needed this victory to give us a bit of breathing room.”
Beni Reineh Head Coach Lior Reuven said after the match, “This is a very disappointing loss. We didn’t enter the game well, but at halftime we made changes substituted players and switched systems. We looked much better and created chances. We even got a penalty that, if it had gone in, everything would have looked different. But that’s part of football.”
Hapoel Haifa and Ironi Tiberias played to a 1-1 draw as Liran Rotman scored just ahead of the break to give the Carmel Reds a 1-0 lead but Yariun Swisa found the tying marker in the 90th minute to split the points.
Tiberias Bench Boss Eliran Huda said after the match, “I actually think the game was quite even. Before we conceded, Itamar Shviro missed a great chance and we could have taken the lead. At the end of the day that goal for us is very important. Every point at the bottom matters. We have four matches left and each one will be more important than the last. We need to show patience and be mentally strong. I believe it will go down to the very last moment.”
Haifa Head Coach Haim Silvas said, “We did everything needed to play well. This was a game that should have ended with two or three goals in our favor. We reached good chances and when you go into a dicey game like this one you can end up conceding from nothing. We needed to be clinical up front and finish the game and we didn’t do that. Unfortunately, we conceded from nothing.”
Bnei Sakhnin and Ashdod drew 1-1 as Mostafa Yosef gave the Galilee squad in the 80th minute while Nehoray Dabush found the equalizer for the port city side deep into injury time to split the points.
