Hapoel Lev Jerusalem Captures Israel State Cup

Hapoel Lev Jerusalem captured the Israel State Cup for the first time in the club’s debut season in the Premier League by defeating Elitzur Ramle 87-74. The Reds got off to a hot start with Shir Tirosh, Alyssa Barin and Hodaya Kabeda all scoring and although Jennie Simms and Eden Rotberg came back to help Ramle grab a slim 61-58 lead after the third quarter Limor Peleg’s squad dug in deep over the final ten minutes to retake the lead and win the title.

The final MVP Shir Tirosh spoke about the victory, “It’s amazing to make history for this club that many didn’t believe that we would win it. But with our heart and soul we were able to capture the title. We really locked down on defense and we battled every second we were on the court.”

Tirosh scored 23 points, Stasha Carey and Alyssa Baron each added 17 points in the win while Rotberg scored 27 points and Simms chipped in with 22 points in the loss.

Shir Tirosh, Hodaya Kabeda and Alyssa Baron got Hapoel Lev Jerusalem off to a quick start but Elitzur Ramle’s Jennie Simms began chipping away at the lead, however, the Reds took a 25-17 lead after ten minutes of action. Kabeda continued to score but Eden Rotberg began to find the basket in a flurry, Breanna Richardson also found points for Limor Peleg’s team but Simms cut the Jerusalem lead down to 42-39 by halftime.

Tirosh and Baron opened up the third quarter with points but Simms and Rotberg came right back, Stasha Carey scored for Jerusalem but Yemiyah Morris along with Rotberg and Simms put Danny Gutt’s Ramle in front 61-58 after thirty minutes of action.

Tirosh and Rotberg traded baskets to begin the fourth quarter, Tirsoh and Noor Kayuf responded, Baron hit a huge 3-pointer, Simms and Rotberg again scored, Tirosh stole the ball and went in for a layup while Carey and Richardson scored to sew up the victory and capture the State Cup.
