Hapoel Jerusalem downed Tenerife 85-61 to move their Basketball Champions League Round of 16 record to 3-0 as they enter the national cup and international break.
Speedy Smith set the tone early by leading off the game from deep while Levi Randolph, Chris Johnson and JaCorey Williams all scored to take a 15-6 lead after the opening period. Bryon Lamar went for a pair from downtown to begin the second quarter, Randolph, Smith and Or Cornelius also dialed up long distance as Kyle Guy tried to keep Tenerife in the game but more points from Randolph to end the half handed Ilias Kantzouris’s team a 37-22 advantage.
Girogi Shermadini started the second half cutting down the Reds lead, but Johnson, Williams, Randolph and Lemar kept finding the basket to keep Jerusalem in front 67-44 after thirty minutes of action. Williams and Johnson kept finding points while Lamar also scored to polish off the convincing victory.
Randolph led the way with 21 points, Lemar added 17 points and Johnson scored 14 points in the win. Guy paced the Spaniards with 29 points in the loss.
