Eli Gutman stepped down as head coach of Maccabi Haifa less than a month after taking over for Free Rutten due to health issues. “I couldn’t take a chance despite coming to a place that I had dreamt about. My health is above everything and I felt that due to my situation I couldn’t do my job the way that I should. This was the decision that I had to make after seeing the results of my medical examination which weren’t positive. I am finished with football and this decision is final, there’s no chance that I will come back.”
