Hapoel Beer Sheva and Maccabi Tel Aviv played to an entertaining 2-2 draw. After a goalless first half, Kings Kangwa broke the deadlock in the 61st minute to give the southern reds a 1-0 lead. However, the yellow-and-blue came back with a pair of quick goals to take the lead as Sagiv Yehezkel and Weslley Patati scored but Alon Turgeman drew his team even in the 90th minute as the sides split the points.
“This was a game that we didn’t deserve to lose,” Beer Sheva bench boss Ron Kozuk said. “Maccabi is team that thrives on momentum. We were there when they cane back into the game but I am proud of the guys who were knelt o pull this one out at the end to tie it up.”
“I am really proud of my players and how they played in this tough stadium,” Maccabi Tel Aviv Head Coach Zarko Lazetic said. “I am satisfied as that we turned the game around. I think that this was one of the best matches in the Israeli league and we will continue on. This was tow very good teams with great intensity.”
Maccabi Netanya blanked Beitar Jerusalem 3-0 as a red card to Uri Dahan early in the second half gave the diamond city side a man to the good as they took advantage of the situation to record the win. Heriberto Tavares gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute while Dahan was shown red after collecting his second yellow card in the 53rd minute. Karem Jaber scored five minutes later to give Yossi Abuksis’s side the lead and Maxim Plakushchenko added a insurance marker in the 81st minute to close out the victory.
“I think that this is a victory that symbolizes our progress in the last month, both in ability and in our organization,” Abuksis said. “It took us a while, but little by little we made progress. Even in the loss to Maccabi Haifa, a game that we didn’t deserve to lose, might even have been a better game than this one. The crowd pushed us from the first moment and the players put up a tremendous fight.”
“This is a very disappointing loss,” Beitar head coach Barak Itzhaki began. “I do think we started well and somehow the game got away from us. We need to be focused, although we didn’t create too many chances, but we still had the game under our control and we lost it.”
Hapoel Jerusalem slipped by Hapoel Haifa 1-0 thanks to Matan Hozez’s first half goal to give the capital city reds the 3-points and the win.
“The pattern of play that developed is like every game, we’re a little scared when holding onto the ball,” Jerusalem bench boss Ziv Arie said. “We have too many losses, our results are not consistent enough, but there are some losses that stemmed from a bad approach. We came into this game against a good team with great momentum and we did some good things.”
“We definitely need help with only Guy Melamed scoring our goals,” Haifa coach Roni Levy said. “We are missing one, two or three players to add quality. The transfer window will open soon and I hope we will bring in what is needed.”
