Haifa downs Nahariya, Rishon dunks Gilboa


Hapoel Haifa downed Nahariya 97-87 at the Camel to get back onto the winning after losing three straight. The visitors jumped out to the lead but Elad Hasin’s squad clawed back over the course of the second half to notch the win which featured six Haifa players in double digits. Lennard Freeman led with way with 22 points and 11 rebounds, Amit Simhon added 18 points while Keenan Evans chipped in with 16 points in the win. Malik Newman scoured 21 points and Jaron Blossomgame added 20 points in the defeat.

Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion defeated Hapoel Gilboa Galil 85-75 in overtime to notch their 5th win in 6 games to even up their record at 10-10. The Galilee squad took a quick 29-15 lead after the minutes, but Guy Goodes’s squad used a 22-8 second quarter to head into halftime all knotted up at 37-37. The two teams went back and forth over the next twenty minutes but needed an extra session to settle the contest as Egor Koulechov scored 7 points late in the overtime period to help Rishon to the win.

Darryl Monroe led Rishon with 19 points, Koulechov added 18 points and 11 boards, Akil Mitchell chipped in with 16 points and Jeremy Pargo scored 15 points in the win. Kerry Blackshear scored 18 points, and Joe Thomasson checked in with 17 points in the loss.
