Gilboa Galil slips by Rishon, Herzliya downs Nahariya and Hapoel Haifa drops Beer Sheva


Bnei Herzliya continued their fine play of late as they breezed by Nahariya 104-88. Sharon Drucker’s squad raced out to a 60-41 lead by halftime and never looked back as they cruised to the 16 point win. Coty Clarke came oh so close to a triple double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists, Frank Gaines added 26 points, Terrell Parks put in 20 points while Abdul Gaddy chipped in with 15 points and 10 assists in the win. Jaron Blossomgame led Nahariya with 20 points, Michael Young scored 19 points and Kalin Licas dropped 18 points in the loss.

Abdul Gaddy who just joined Herzliya spoke to The Sports Rabbi about the victory, “It was a great win. We are growing and playing better as a team. There are lots of things to still improve but we are headed in the right direction and the guys are great. They have helped me acclimate fast and we are building great team chemistry so far.”

Hapoel Gilboa Galil travelled to Maccabi Rishon Le’Zion and took the hard earned 71-69 win back to Gan Ner. Jehvye Floyd with 12 points and 10 rebounds along with Kerry Blackshear’s 14 points and 13 boards led the way for Lior Lubin’s squad while Isaiah Cousins added 13 points in the win. Akil Mitchell was the game’s top scorer with 21 points and 13 rebounds, Trey Lewis chipped in with 15 points and Isaiah Taylor scored 10 points in the defeat.

Jehvye Floyd was all smiles after the win, “It was a bounce back game for us. We came out with energy and sustained it throughout the game. Big time win against a great team.”

Hapoel Haifa kept on rolling with a 101-91 victory over Hapoel Beer Sheva as Amit Simhon went 5/6 from downtown to lead the way for Elad Hassin’s squad. The desert city squad held a 47-42 advantage at half-time but Rami Hadar’s team allowed 35 third quarter points helping Haifa take the win. Simhon led all scorers with 24 points, Lennard Freeman added 18 points and 9 boards, while Jason Siggers soccer 16 points and Keenan Evans almost out up a triple double as he finished the game with 11 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds. Eric Griffin scored 22 points, Dominic Waters added 14 points and 9 assists as Travis Warech scored 16 points in the defeat.

“I’m happy we won the game and it was super important for us as we move up the standings,” said Simhon following the win.
