Hapoel Jerusalem 84-79 Maccabi Haifa
Jerusalem protected home court and pulled out the 5-point win at the Pais Arena thanks in part to a broken clock delay at the start of the final frame. With Haifa ahead 66-61 and in control of the game, the clock on top of the basket that the Greens were shooting on went out of commission, leading to a break that gave Jerusalem an 8-0 run thanks in part to a pair of 3’s by Jerome Dyson. The visitors held a 1-point advantage 79-78 with less than 2 minutes to play but Ronald Roberts and Startos Perperologou dropped 6 unanswered points to pull out the win. Roberts ended the evening with 21 points and 12 rebounds, Lior Eliyahu had a string game with 16 points and 7 boards while Dyson finished the night scoring 15 points. Oz Blayzer had a strong game for Haifa with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Zach Graham scored 14 points in his debut.

Ofer Rahimi spoke diplomatically about the clock saying, “That these things happen” however he was much more upset about the defense especially on the pair of 3-pointers by Dyson, “The two 3’s should have never happened, but we lost the game on the defensive end including defensive rebounds.”

Jerusalem Coach Mody Maor also praised Dyson’s importance on the court and his play, “Jerome is a leader and his importance to Jerusalem is clear.” He also said that the team will, “play the rest of the season like they did in the 4th quarter.”

The MVP Ronald Roberts discussed how he’s feeling so far with the Reds, “I feel good and we’re trying to get on a roll, but we still haven’t played to our best abilities. We have to continue to play with high energy in all of our games and I hope that will happen when we face Nahariya.”
