Football Israel Round 12 Ligat Ha’Al

Hapoel Tel Aviv escapes with a 2-1 win and Haifa wins Bloomfield Stadium for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, Beer Sheva wins in a rainy Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Beitar Jerusalem.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-1 Ashdod

The Reds came away with an important 2-1 victory in the dying seconds of the match on Arik Einstein night at Bloomfield Stadium. After a dry first half with not many chances form both sides, David Solari broke the deadlock with a penalty kick goal after Branko Illic pulled down Ya Ya Petty in the box in the 53rd minute. Just 2 minutes later an Ashdod handball by Alexander Davidov in the box gave Omer Damari a penalty kick of his own which he promptly buried into the far right side of the net to even up the score. After a red card to Israel Rosh of Ashdod, Hapoel pressed to somehow find the winner in the 89th minute by none other than Branko Illic for his first goal of the season! Fans left happy with the music of Arik Einstein ringing in their ears and a date with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first derby of the season next Monday night!

Bnei Yehuda 0-2 Maccabi Haifa

It took 3 minutes into the second half but Maccabi Haifa finally scored against Bnei Yehuda on a nice passing play that was unfortunately offside. Eyal Meshumar sent the ball to Yaniv Katan who slipped it to an offside Alon Turgeman who then passed it to a wide open Ruben Rayos in the middle of the box and opened the way for a 2-0 road win at Bloomfield Stadium. Rayos capped off the scoring with a cool penalty slotting the ball to the bottom right hand corner of the goal and Boris Sharanov made the necessary saves when called upon and Haifa picked up the 3 points to continue their meteoric rise in the standings.

Hapoel Haifa 1-3 Hapoel Beer Sheva

Hapoel Beer Sheva visited Haifa in a torrential downpour at times and came away with the valuable 3 points that sends them to the top of the table. Haifa opened the scoring with a 23rd minute goal by Oshri Roash but was quickly cancelled out by Dovev Gabbay’s in the 29th. But two questionable red cards by referee Ziv Adler given out to Danilo Nikolic & Yuval Avidor within minutes of each other changed the whole game and sent the home side scrambling. Down to only 9 men Haifa was unable to keep the score as is and goals by Serge Nassar & Tomer Suissa, his 4th as a subsitute sealed the win for HBS.

Hapoel Akko 2-0 Kiryat Shemona 

A Rodrigo Spadaccia brace helped Akko to the win while Kiryat Shemona dropped points for the first time in four rounds. Spadaccia scored from a free kick,18 meters from the goal and beat keeper Guy Haimov for Akko’s first free kick goal of the season. Spadaccia then scored on a penalty but Kiryat Shemona scored from a penalty of their own by Tamir Kahlon but couldn’t get closer to split the points.

Hapoel Ramat HaSharon 2-0 Maccabi Petach Tikva

Ramat HaSharon has been a force to be reckoned with the past few games delivering it’s fifth game in a row without a loss and moved above the red line to stay in the league for the first time this year. Two late goals at Grundman Stadium by the home side, one from Michael Zandberg in the 81st minute and an 87th minute goal by Bosnian Emir Hadzic handed Ramat HaSharon the 3 pts. 

Hapoel Raanana 0-1 Bnei Sakhnin

Bnei Sakhnin maintained it fine form with its third win in a row against Raanana which has now dropped two straight matches. A resurgent Mohammed Ghadit scored in the 78th minute off an individual effort to give the visiting club the three points and Marko Balbul’s team stayed near the top of the table with the win.
