Maccabi Tel Aviv fell 82-75 to Fenerbahce in Gameday 22 Euroleague action as their record fell to 10-12 on the season. The yellow-and-blue played the Turkish squad neck and neck throughout the first half but Nando De Colo, Jan Vesely, Marko Guduric and Dyshawn Pierre all came up big to cancel out Elijah Bryant and Scottie Wilbekin to take the 7-point win for Igor Kokoskov’s team.
Jan Vesely led the way for Fenerbahce with 18 points, Nando De Colo added 16 points and Dyshawn Pierre score 15 points in the win. Elijah Bryant put in 18 points for Maccabi, Scottie Wilbekin chipped in with 15 points and 10 assists as Tyler Dorsey scored 9 points in the loss.
Dragan Bender got Maccabi Tel Aviv off and running with a pair of triples as Othello Hunter scored and Angelo Caloiaro in the paint but Nando De Colo and Jan Vesely put in points for Fenerbahce as the visitors led 12-10 midway through the first quarter. Yovel Zoosman put in a deuce and a 3-pointer while Tyler Dorsey scored from deep as well but Jarell Eddie did as well however, the yellow-and-blue led 21-17 after ten minutes of play.
Vesely quickly scored four points as did Dyshawn Pierre while Marko Guduric scored as well to start the second quarter off with an 13-0 run to go up 30-21 with 7:18 left in the first half. Wilbekin scored from the charity stripe, Dorsey added a layup and additional points but Melih Mahmutogolu scored for the hosts, however, Elijah Bryant drilled home a corner triple to cut the Fenerbahce lead to 36-35 at halftime.
Ante Zizic gave Ioannis Sfairopoulos’s squad a short lived lead to start of the third quarter as Guduric, De Colo and Edgaras Ulanovas put Fenerbahce right back in front but Bryant came right back with a pair of 3-pointers. Scottie Wilbekin added form long distance as well but more points from Vesely and De Colo gave Igor Kokoskov’s squad a 52-48 lead midway through the frame. Lorenzo Brown scored 5 points as Zizic and John Dibartolomeo answered but Gudiric with a 3-point play gave Fenerbahce a 60-53 lead following 30 minutes of action.
Dibartolomeo cut the lead with a triple to begin the fourth quarter but Vesely, Guduric, Pierre and De Colo bumped the advantage up to 70-61 with 5:06 left in regulation time. Bryant with a bucket and Wilbekin with a 3-pointer once again pulled Maccabi to within four points by a pair of quick baskets by Pierre and points by Vesely wrapped up the 82-75 Fenerbahce win.
