Childs helps Hapoel Gilboa Galil drop Nes Ziona at Gan Ner

Hapoel Gilboa Galil dropped Nes Ziona 88-83 as Elijah Childs and Ish El-Amin proved to be unstoppable to halt a 3-game skid. The dynamic duo of Childs and El-Amin were potent from the get go as Bryce Brown and Darnell Edge tried to keep the visitors close but Ben Moore along with Niv Misgav, Gut Lavie, Childs and El-Amin built up a double digit lead that paced Sharon Avrahami’s team to the victory.

Childs scored 24 points, El-Amin added 21 points and Misgav scored 15 points in the win. Edge scored 20 points and Brown put in 18 points in the loss.

Gilboa Galil Head Coach Sharon Avrahami spoke about the win, “This was a very important game because of the three losses in a row and it wasn’t an easy situation for us. In those games we had some good minutes but we also weren’t able to win which is what we did in this game.”

Sagi Shalev, who filled in on the sidelines for an ill Amit Sherf spoke about the his team’s performance and the opportunity to be the head coach for the match, “The game really was decided by two things, the rebounds and second chance points. It was exciting and a dream come true for me to be in the sidelines but when the game begins you don’t think about these things and youngest into the game. I hope coach will get be better soon.”

Gil Beni reflected on the importance of the win following a number of defeats, “We came in after a rough stretch for us with three losses, so this win was the most important thing for us to take firm this game. I’m sure that this is in will help us going forward as we had some tough games recently. We looked good for some moments in those games but we also had some tough times as well. Hopefully we can take this win and capitalize on it going forward.”

Darnell Edge looked back at the loss, “Credit to them for the win. It was a hard fought game and the second half we had issues with the rebounds and went down by 12 points going into the fourth quarter.”

Ish El-Amin scored points a plenty for Hapoel Gilboa Galil while Gur Lavie and Elijah Childs found the basket as well, but Bryce Brown, Ricky Lindo and Itay Segev responded for Nes Ziona to give the visitors a 24-20 lead after ten minutes of play.

Childs and Niv Misgav went from deep to begin the second quarter, Ryan Turell dialled up long distance, Darnell Edge and Lindo scored, Misgav and Childs continued to find points, Zuf Ben Moshe came back with a triple, Yair Kravits and Ben Moore traded buckets as Nes Ziona took a 43-41 advantage into halftime.

Brown opened the third quarter from deep, Childs, El-Amin and Lavie came back with points, Jerome Meyinsse and Edge countered, Brown went from beyond the arc while Moore responded with points in the paint as Childs and El-Amin kept scoring with ease to give Sharon Avrahami’s team a 73-62 lead after thirty minutes of action.

Edge and El-Amin traded baskets to get the final frame underway, Gil Beni, Moore and Lavie added points, Turell and Edge drained a 3-pointers, but Childs did the same to close out the win.
