Biden opens 2022 Maccabiah Games

The 2022 Maccabiah Games opened up in Jerusalem as the President of the United States Joe Biden along with Israel President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minster Yair Lapid. Over 10,000 athletes from over 80 countries will compete in close to 50 different disciplines in Haifa, Netanya and the nation’s capital, Jerusalem.

There was excitement in the air around Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium as fans, dignitaries and athletes alike all enjoyed a festive evening as the Jews from across the globe entered the stadium baring their country’s flag as Biden, who wore a hat emblazoned by the letters USA waved to his hearts delight. Prior to the opening ceremony, the 46th President met with over 200 American athletes and told them how proud he was of their efforts.

Israeli singing sensations Static & Ben El Tavori entertained the crowd while Israel’s lone NBA representative Deni Avdija was present for the evening as Olympic Gold Medalists Linoy Ashram and Artem Dolgopyat lit the flame. The Games which began a couple of days ago will run through the 24th of July.
