Hapoel Beer Sheva chalked up another win this time over Bnei Herzliya 89-73. The southern reds came out strong as Netta Segal, Tidjan Keita and Egor Koulechov all found the basket as Maurice Kemp and Chris Babb tried to keep Bnei Herzliya close but the hosts grabbed a 41-30 advantage by halftime. Lior Lubin’s team continued to push the pace in the second half as Khalil Ahmad and Ben Moore both got busy while Roie Paretzky also made his mark on the game to runaway with the win.
Ahmad scored 18 points, Moore added 15 points and 9 boards while Segal scored 14 points in the win. Kemp scored 16 points and Babb added 10 points in the defeat.
Beer Sheva head coach Lior Lubin spoke about the victory, “We came in very focussed with positive energy and we were aggressive. Everything worked as players helped one another on the court as well. Our defense has been improving along the way as well.”
“This was a very bad game by the team on both sides of the court,” Herzilya bench boss Oren Aharoni said. “We weren’t there defensively and offensively missed many free throws. From the get go we didn’t do what we needed to and it was a very weak performance.”
Roie Paretzky looked back at the win, “We spoke about making sure to come into the game and set the tone which is something we had issues with at the beginning of the season. We started the game with positive energy and our defense was good off the bat and everything went from there.”
Hapoel Eilat defeated Hapoel Gilboa Galil 85-74 to move out a game ahead of the Galilee side in the relegation battle at the bottom of the standings. Tony Carr and Robert Franks got busy for Hapoel Gilboa Galil while Antonius Cleveland and Eric Griffin scored for Hapoel Eilat but it was the visitors who took a 43-37 lead into halftime. However, Maurizio Buscaglia’s team came out in the second half on a mission as Griffin, Austin Tilghman and Terran Petteway pulled Eilat into the lead for good as they took the crucial win.
Griffin led the way with 24 points, Cleveland added 19 points, Petteway scored 14 points while Mangok Mathiang grabbed 19 rebounds in the win. Carr paced Gilboa with 21 points and Franks scored 20 points in the loss.
