Barcelona used a fourth quarter comeback and a 14-0 run to down Maccabi Tel Aviv 83-78 as the yellow-and-blue were held scoreless for over 6 minutes of the final frame in the devastating defeat. The loss evens Maccabi’s record to 11-11 as they will now head to Valencia for the third game of their Euroleague road trip in search of their first win.

Barcelona came out strong to grab an early 20-15 lead as Jan Vesely did the damage for the hosts while they continued to lead at halftime with Cory Higgins, Tomas Satoransky and Alex Abrines all scoring to go into halftime up 41-37. However, Oded Katash’s squad came roaring back in the third period as Wade Baldwin, Jalen Adams and Darrun Hilliard all found their stroke to push Maccabi ahead 67-62 after thirty minutes of play. But Barcelona ripped off a 14-0 run in the final frame as Nikola Mirotic, Higgins and Vesely all scored to take the win.

Adams led the way for Maccabi with 20 points, Baldwin added 15 points while Martin and Hilliard had 11 points a piece in the loss. Higgins paced the hosts with 15 points, Jokubatis added 14 points, Mirotic scored 11 points and Vesely chipped in with 10 points in the win.

Jan Vesely worked the inside to open the game while Nicolas Laprovittola made points from the outside for Barcelona while Jalen Adams and Jarell Martin answered for Maccabi Tel Aviv but Rokas Jokubaitis went from deep to give the hosts a 20-15 lead after ten minutes.

Adams led off the second quarter with a triple and Roman Sorkin found points as well, but Cory Higgins, Sertac Sanli and Alex Abrines all found the bucket for Saras Jasikevicius’s squad as they held onto a 30-25 lead midway through the period. Higgins, Mike Tobey and Tomas Satoransky put in points, Adams responded with a corner 3 ball, Su Braimoh dunked and Darrun Hilliard finished off the half with a triple but Oded Katash’s team were still down 41-37.

Bonzie Colson scored a deuce, Martin put in a 3-pointer and Sorkin went in for an easy layup to get the third quarter off and running, Nikola Mirotic and Colson traded triples and Baldwin dunked with authority as the yellow-and-blue grabbed a49-46 lead with 5:25 left in the frame.

Baldwin score at will as he drove to the bucket, hit his midrange and drilled home a 3-pointer, Mirotic and Abrines came right back with points, Hilliard dialed up long distance, Braimoh and Adams also scored to give Maccabi the lead but Tobey scored to keep Barcelona in striking distance 67-62.

Hilliard continued with his hot hand from deep, Jokubaitis scored from the outside and inside, Colson and Martin scored for Maccabi but Vesely dunked to keep Barcelona close 74-70 midway through the fourth quarter. Mirotic put in a 3-point play, Higgins drained a triple, Vesely scored in the paint to cap off a 14-0 run and take the come from behind win.
