“Always smiling, always laughing” – Who are you Galil Elyon guard Deishuan Booker?

Aug 22, 2022 | Holyland Hoops

Deishuan Booker joined Hapoel Galil Elyon for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign and played in France last season. The 25-year old guard played his final two seasons of college ball at Long Beach State where he averaged 18.9 points while shooting 91% from the line, along with grabbing 3.5 rebounds and dishing out 4.4 assists per game in his senior year.

Booker played his first year of pro ball with Nymburk and then headed to Goettingen in Germany and Anwil in Poland during year two. Last season, the Las Vegas native played in Furnace with Fos Sur Mer Provence and Le Mans where he scored 17.6 points and took 4.7 rebounds per game.

To find out what Galil Elyon fans have to look forward to, The Sports Rabbi was in touch with a number of Booker’s former teammates and a journalist that covered the guard at Long Beach State:

Alex Manfredi: Deishuan is a scoring guard that also has great vision and feel for the game. He can really run a team and initiate the offense. Plays at his own pace and is very hard to stop from getting into the key. Booker is a crafty finisher at the rim with both hands and a very good pull-up jump shooter. Off the floor Deishuan has a very laid back personality. He is very easy to talk to once you start conversation and has always been polite and respectful to everyone around him.

Le Mans teammates:

Scott Bamforth: Booker can score the ball in many different ways… he gets to the free throw line at a high rate which puts pressure on the defense. Overall he is a great person, great teammate to have around a team. He is able to create with the ball and that allows others to play off of him.

Terry Tarpey: “Book” is a great player and great friend, and I enjoyed the time that we played together! He’s a great scorer and can win games with his ability. I hope he does great in Israel!

Provence teammates:

DJ Stephens: He’s a really good player… can really score the ball in many different ways. He’s unselfish and I enjoyed playing with him. Cool dude off the court as well, we hung out a lot. My favorite teammate from that Fos team.

Jamar Diggs: Great talent, awesome in the pick and roll. Give him the ball and get out of the way, something special will happen. You have a great player on your hands.

Long Beach teammates:

Jordan Roberts: He’s a great teammate. He pushes all of his teammates to be better even if they feel like they’re giving it all they got from my perspective. He’s always smiling and laughing around which makes being one of his teammates a fun experience.

Mason Riggins: Book is my guy! Not only the best, but my favorite PG I’ve ever played with at any level.
