The Israel Women’s National Basketball Team defeated Bosnia 94-71 to move their 2027 World Cup Qualifying record to a perfect 4-0 with two more games coming up over the next week. Head Coach Shira Helicon’s squad were able to withstand any Bosnian comeback attempt throughout the game and Israel finished the game off with a 13-1 run to close out the victory. The blue-and-white are closing in on punching their ticket to the second round as they will play Luxembourg and Ireland next to complete the first stage of qualifying.

Alyssa Baron led an early 8-2 run to help Israel to a 25-17 lead after ten minutes of play while Abby Meyers paced the blue-and-white in the second period to head into halftime with a 42-37 advantage. Bosnia cut the lead down to just 46-44 early on in the third quarter but Dorian Dahan Sujic along with Daniel Raber and Baron made sure that would be as close as their opponents would get as Israel pulled away and closed out the 23-point victory. Sujic scored 20 points while Raber and Meyers added 19 points a piece in the win.

‘We feel goos with the performance,” Haelion said. “I think in the second half we took a step up and the game plan was to really focus on their guards and keep them in check which we managed to do. Defensively there was a very big improvement from the first game against Bosnia and it was great to see the effort. I’m happy that we knew how to close the game in the second half. Kudos to the players.”
